Last time there was an election, I begged a friend of mine who had never voted before, to register so that her vote could be counted. So that she had a say in her future as well as that of her children. After all, I told her, if she didn't exercise her right to vote, she'd have no right to complain if things didn't go as she wanted. I personally drove her down to the county office, she filled out her paperwork and handed it to the clerk. And that was that. She voted for the first time at the age of 33. She felt good about it as did I.
